This conference focuses on welcoming people with disabilities to the university. It will take place at the University of Reunion Island, in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, in a room called Amphitheater A4. Here is what will happen over the three days.

Monday, April 20, 2026

 

1:00 PM: Welcome.

1:30 PM: Start of the conference and opening remarks.

2:30 PM: Presentation by Eric Dugas. The topic is: How to effectively welcome people with disabilities to the university and to society.

3:15 PM: Discussion with autistic students. The topic is: Autistic students share their experiences at university.


3:45 PM: Break.


Please note: At 4:00 PM, there are two presentations taking place simultaneously. You must choose only one room.

              - Option 1: Computer Science for Everyone. This presentation is in Amphitheater A4.

4:00 PM: Presentation by Christelle Lison. The topic is: Using computers to create courses for everyone.

4:30 PM: Presentation by Chama Elazouzi. The topic is: How computers help students do things independently.

5:00 PM: Presentation by Pierre Reynaud. The topic is: Examples of how to make computers easy for everyone to use.

              - Option 2: Accessible Courses and Locations. This presentation is in Amphitheater A5.

4:00 PM: Presentation by Liliane Pelletier and Chloé Courtot. The topic is: How to create courses that are easy for all students to follow.

4:30 PM.: Presentation by Claire Goulet. The topic is: Training teachers to help students succeed.

5:00 PM: Presentation by Amandine Rochedy. The topic is: Meals and places to eat when you are an autistic student.



Tuesday, April 21, 2026


8:30 AM.: Welcome.

9:00 AM: Presentation by Luc Vandromme. Topic: Being in contact with people with different backgrounds allows you to see things differently.

10:00 AM: Presentation by Nicolas Joncour and Juliette Speranza. Topic: How people with disabilities can make decisions about their studies.

10:30 AM: Presentation by Liliane Pelletier. Topic: Doing research together to be more independent at university.


11:00 AM: Break.

 

11:15 AM: Presentation by Sylviane Rabetsarazaka. Topic: Leaving school and then returning to pursue higher education.

11:45 AM: Discussion moderated by Yves Depigny. Topic: A boat trip by students and teachers with disabilities to the southern lands.

 

12:15 PM: Lunch break.

 

1:45 PM: Presentation by Marie-Hélène Plumet. The topic is: Better understanding and supporting students with conditions such as autism.

                 - Option 1: Information technology to help welcome all students to university. This presentation is in Amphitheater A4.

2:35 PM: Presentation by Nathalie Quartenoud Macherel. The topic is: Being autistic, pursuing higher education, and choosing your own path.

3 PM: Presentation by Antonella Ferrara. The topic is: Using virtual reality to teach professors how to best welcome everyone.

                 - Option 2: Creating a Supportive Environment. This presentation is in Amphitheater A5.

2:35 PM: Presentation by Sylvie Canat. The topic is: Rethinking the university so that it helps all students succeed.

3 PM: Presentation by Audrey Noël. The topic is: The stories of people with invisible disabilities.


3:30 PM: Break.

 

Everyone is back in Amphitheater A4:

3:45 PM: Presentation by Karine Gros. The topic is: Helping autistic students find jobs after their studies.

4:15 PM: Discussion led by Leslie Amiot. The topic is: Helping people with disabilities become professors or researchers.

5:00 PM: Signing of an important document (a charter) by the university president. This will be followed by a dance performance featuring a dancer with a disability.

5:45 PM: Time to chat and have a drink together.

9:00 AM: Presentation by Amael André. Topic: How to know if the university is welcoming everyone.

9:45 AM: Presentation by Leslie Amiot. Topic: What has been done at the University of Limoges to help students.

10:15 AM: Presentation by Julia Midelet and Laurence Leroyer. Topic: Teaching professors how to teach all students, even if they are very different.

 

10:45 AM: Break.

 

11:00 AM: Presentation by Tiffanie Dujardin. Topic: How training helps professors feel confident in welcoming students.

11:30 AM: Closing remarks by Stéphanie Jean-Daubias.

12:00 PM: The organizers of the conference say thank you.

 

12:15 PM: Lunch break.
